This weekend, a friend of mine told me about the astrological concept of the Return of Saturn. I’m going to butcher this explanation, but bear with me. I am told that when Saturn returns to its original position at the time of your birth, your life is supposed to enter a vital transitional phase. The first time it happens takes place between a person’s 28th and 30th years, and is supposed to mark the end of one’s youth. Saturn is an agent of change, and is often called the Lord of Karma because during the Return of Saturn, one’s actions, virtues, shortcomings, successes, and failures tend to catch up with them. The seeds you have sown will either be fruitful, or new seeds will need to be planted. This came up in conversation because many of my friends are going through this experience right now. We just didn’t have a name for it. The upheaval and change of the return of Saturn is undoubtedly marking this year in my life. I’m glad that I know about it now so that I can be better prepared for it. This song is about knowing it has been coming, and not really wanting to acknowledge look it in the eye.
