about

Notes: As the end of the year comes into view, it's hard to ponder that there was ever anything before 2020. It's easy to imagine that it was an age of innocence, even though it wasn't. It sounds true to say we had it easier, but it's all relative. It's a fact, nonetheless, that we didn't see this year coming. We never tried to imagine the world the way it is now. We couldn't have if we wanted to. Still, darkness eventually gives way to light. At the time of this writing, it is the winter solstice. Tomorrow will bring us just a little bit more daylight than today. The days will carry on, following that trend. You've got something to look forward to.

lyrics

Lyrics:

I was getting by
Younger than I was
Age of innocence
Laughing just because
Squinting to sky

And I never thought of this
But how could anyone?
We'll watch the coming rain
Standing in the sun

Always waking up
halfway through the dawn
I forget my place
It all keeps turning on
Fending off the light

And I never thought of this
But how could anyone?
We'll watch the coming rain
Standing in the sun
