about

Sometime you just have to write about what you see out your window. I found myself transfixed by the snow illuminated in a streetlamp. As the wind changed, I watched the lamp define a wedge of activity that was furious, driving, chaotic, frenzied violence, then suddenly gentile, delicate, wandering tranquility. I watched the storm oscillate between these extremes with nothing in between. I imagined a single snowflake, and attempted to empathize with the moment when the chaos gives way to peace. Can you imagine the bliss as your collision course is halted by an updraft, and you find yourself drifting serenely to the earth? As I wrote this, I tried to find that moment within myself.

lyrics

Watch the snow in the street lamp
Change direction before you
Hear the sound of the siren
And the song as the children laugh

Oh the motion
The endless falling
The voices calling
It all comes down

Heed the notion inside you
It is much like the snowfall
Seek the Earth down below you
Drift and it will embrace you soon

Oh the motion
The endless falling
The voices calling
It all comes down
